Our History
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO BOUNDLESS SUCCESS
Mr. Sisombath Philavong migrated from Lao P.D.R. to the United States in 1986, settling in Elgin, Illinois. Despite struggling to find employment in his new home, he remained determined and, in 1990, founded Precision Sewing from his garage. With the unwavering support of his wife, Mrs. May Philavong, and their three children, he steadily grew his business, securing contracts with American Airlines and United Airlines. His entrepreneurial success was recognized in 1999 when he received the Young Entrepreneur Award at the First Annual Asian American Small Business Awards.
In 2007, driven by his commitment to giving back to his homeland, Mr. Philavong established Sisombath Leasing Company in Laos, expanding its branches across the country to support the financial needs of the Lao people. In 2013, he further diversified his business ventures by founding SP Real Estate, introducing various housing projects in Vientiane. His contributions to the hospitality industry took shape in 2016 with the groundbreaking of the Saint Phila Convention Hall, marking the rise of Lao Icon as a premier hospitality destination.
